Gloria De Paola received a BA in History from Hunter College in New York City. She is a free-lance writer on food, travel and local history. She has written five articles for smallstatebighhistory.com, including one of the most popular, “How Curious! A Cranston Coal Mine.” She is an avid reader who much prefers settling in with nonfiction books on history and politics than any current novel. Doris Kearns Goodwin and Barbara Tuchman are particular favorites. She organizes monthly programs for the Friends of the East Greenwich Library and the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society, where she has served on the Board of Trustees for more than 20 years.
