She has lived in New Mexico for more than twenty years. Her book reviews, feature articles, and profile pieces have appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers from Equus Magazine and Western Horseman to the Bloomsbury Review and the Albuquerque Journal. Two of her articles were anthologized in the Harrowsmith Reader, and she won the Writer's Digest first prize for interviewing in 1978. Her book Gila Country Legend: The Life and Times of Quentin Hulse (University of New Mexico Press, 2015) tells the story of a legendary character from southwestern New Mexico. Hulse was a rancher, cowboy, hunter, outfitter, and guide. Very much a merry prankster and well regarded as an oral historian, he was "legendary, unique, real." His story is wrapped in the story of their life together.
