About James Rugh

Born in Illinois, in 1967 the U.S. Navy brought Jim Rugh to Rhode Island. He served in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. He then attended Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, where he received an undergraduate degree and did graduate work in history. He went on to spend over 30 years in the insurance industry. He retired in 2005, as Director of Corporate Communications for a Boston based insurance company. That year he moved to Rhode Island. Jim currently serves as Director, Special Projects for the National Museum of American Illustration in Newport, and is a tour guide for cruise ship passengers visiting Newport.
