About Roger Wallin

C. Roger Wallin is a retired navy civilian combat systems engineer. He was employed at the Navy Undersea Warfare Center at Newport for 40 years, involved in developing innovative advanced concepts applicable to both surface ships and submarines. He has several patented inventions. Prior to that career he served as a commissioned officer in the US Navy for five years, during which time he was Talos Missile Computer Officer on the cruiser USS Little Rock (CLG-4), and as an instructor of naval weapons at the Officer Candidate School in Newport. He continued his military participation as a drilling reservist, concurrent with his civilian career, and retired from a total of 24 years active and reserve service with the rank of Commander. He maintains a deep interest in naval and maritime history, as well as model shipbuilding. Commander Wallin is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
